This FlapCam is a creative idea to both reduce the amount of space it will take up, but also and more importantly will allow you to protect your lense and your LCD screen at all times. Although not yet announced whether it will go into production, it looks like it has a very good chance.
A design like this negates the need for a case as long as you remember to flip it around when shooting. Also, the hinge can flip open partially, so the user can take pictures of himself or other stuff at an angle
